Here is a great vintage T-Shirt size Medium or Large (see measurements below) from the United States Navy's ship... the USS INDEPENDENCE CV-62 that is dated (in the graphic of the ship of 1985--I think).
This dark Navy blue T-Shirt is in worn once condition being hidden away for years. On the front of the T-Shirt a graphic of the ship and the date is hidden in the waves. Nothing on the back.
It measures 21 inches across the chest measured under the arms and from the back of the neck band to the bottom hem is 30 inches inches making it a comfortable size MEDIUM or TIGHT size LARGE so please know your size! The neck tag says it is a size LARGE, but this is old school sizes from decades ago! No stains or holes and a nice 100% cotton knit and made in the USA!
And just so you know...
The carrier operated in the Indian Ocean in 1980-81, after Iran seized the staff of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran. The long-running Lebanon crisis was a focus of her 1982 and 1983-84 Sixth Fleet cruises, and she launched air strikes against hostile targets during the latter tour. Just before that 1983 Mediterranean cruise, Independence took part in combat operations to liberate the island of Grenada.
After concluding her final Mediterranean cruise in 1985, Independence entered the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard for an extensive Service Life Extension Program reconstruction. USS Independence returned to the United States in mid-1998 and was decommissioned in September of that year. She is presently in "mothballs" at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
